You can fly non-stop to Panama from the United States from Newark and Houston(Continental), Los Angeles (Copa), Miami (Copa, American), Orlando (Copa) and Atlanta (Delta) New York ( Delta, Copa) and Washington D.C. (Copa). Fares are generally in the $600- $1100.00 range. Fares are lower if you don't travel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. "High season" tickets run higher- that is between Dec. 15 and March.
Panama has several excellent domestic airlines and in-country fares are reasonable. Round trip tickets to Bocas del Toro from Panama City with Air Panama and Aeroperlas are $185 and round trip flights to the San Blas Islands for $97 for example.
Upon arriving in Panama City at the International airport, you can hire a taxi at the airport taxi booth for $20 to anywhere in Panama City. The ride takes about 15-20 minutes.
With one exception, all hotels are in Panama City-on the beltway it only takes 15 minutes to get to the city, but from the beltway, traffic can be slow to your hotel- so time to and from the airport can vary from 25 minutes to one hour.
